I work during the day on Lambton Quay, so maybe I could have a look at it one 
lunchtime. Linux is usually bang-on reliable with ethernet network cards, but 
wireless can be a bit trickier to support because some manufacturers don't 
release their hardware details and it all has to be reverse engineered by a 
bunch of OSS programmers in their spare time. What kind of laptop is it? Make 
and model number(s) will be helpful.
