 Hi,
  I am new to linux and have had a nightmare of a time with different  distros so far, I've only got so far with my non-technical well-meaning  attempts and I would totally appreciate some help.
  
  After trial and error finally doing okay with Ubuntu 5.1 but I can't connect.
  Ethernet LAN worked sometime but rarely (the link light is not always  on whcihc makes me suspect this is a hardware problem) which sucks  cause it's a new laptop but not such a problem if I can get the  wireless to work.  I tried to connect to cafenet from the library,  which should be in their hotspot radius can't seem to disable the WEP  thing which was suggested on some site, so I just leave it blank but it  doesn't detect it.
  
  I mainly want to use my computer for music cause open source is the  future and there are heaps of good applications, and because of the low  latency kernel which makes everything better.  maybe I'm not ready  for linux, but all the propaganda suggests I should already be making  music with it by now.
  
  If someone could kindly spare a little time to help me sort this out I  will be really greatful and I can mow your lawn or something in return.
