I *think* that I created a partition for a BSD 'slice' after an extended 
partition, but I'm not sure...

My point was that partition 2 should encompass partitions 4 and 5, which 
as I remembered the numbers it didn't. However when I checked I realised 
that I was confusing commas with decimal points!

Once I'd got that straight I could see that Jo's missing partitions were 
going to be /dev/hda7 and /dev/hda8 exactly like my disk as it happens!

I should read things more carefully.
