[wellylug] Streaming Audio and Video

I've been having problems with streaming audio and video in a browser.

I use Ubuntu Breezy Badger, Firefox as browser. What I basically want to
do is listen to streamed audio from online radio stations and I'm
basically having little success.

Basically, I select an audio or video stream and up pops a box asking me
what I would like to use to play the stream. The only thin in the box is
totem, so I select that and a popup appears that says "Totem could not
play fd://0" and suggests that I get the appropriate plugin. OK, it
might be nice if it gave me some hints.

So, I decided to leave that for a while, and downloaded and installed
RealPlayer 10. Now, say I want to play a clip, say Ice Age II so I click
on the link and it asks what to use. The only option is FireFox. So I
click on it and a page comes up with the URL of the .ram file on it. I
can cut and paste this into RealPlayer and it works, pretty much. I've
checked that the RP plugin is installed correctly.

Has anyone any idea how I can make some progress with these problems?

Cheers,

Cliff
