Agreed. But if you do end up in possession of a .deb that you want to
install on your Ubuntu system then here's a handy tip: right click on
the file and select Open with "GDebi Package Installer". The snazzy
little GUI thingy that pop's up will resolve the dependencies for you
via apt. Of course I'm running Gnome, presumably KDE provides similar
functionality.
