[wellylug] Bittorrent under Linux

I am approaching madness (or at least a very grumpy state)
trying to get decent download speeds with Azureus under Linux.
I have an ADSL router and a broadband connection with IHUG.
For normal file download I can get 150Kb/s+
If I use Azureus, typically people will upload from me at
about 20 Kb/s (which must be close to the maximum permitted)
-- but I can only get 5 Kb/s max download with
an average of about 2Kb/s. This is on a good day when
I have, say, 30 seeds and 100 peers in the swarm.
The swarm speed in this case is about 15 kb/s
with, say, 100 kb/s max, so I am well under the average.
Download Ratio, DHT and NAT are all green.
I have tried cutting back the upload speed but that
doesn't help (usually my download speed is reduced still further).
This is basically maddening because I end up paying for
other peoples uploads by a large margin.

Any hints or suggestions (please)?

Roger.
