I've got a PCI modem I don't need. You're welcome to it. If you can give an 
address, I can mail it to you.

I'm not sure about whether Aus things are _legally_ allowed to connect to the NZ 
network, but I'm fairly certain they're technically compatible (except for 
pulse-dialling devices, but who has one of those these days?) and I doubt 
whether any telco would ever find out you're using something Aus-approved but 
not NZ-permitted
