Sponsorship for what purpose?

Sponsorship in aid of a specific event can be considered if/when it is
required.

Sponsorship of the LUG in general would probably require incorporation, in
order to account for finances. (Whoever is doing the sponsoring isprobably
going to want it to be legally trackable!)

Comes back to 'what does WellyLUG want to actually do?'

Many of the 'tasks' that've been posted (things like 'greeting new
attendees' can be done by anyone with the right attitude. Heck if I saw a
new face at an Auckland LUG meeting and noone was talking to them, I would
go out of my way to introduce myself. I made that a personal
responsibility - It didnt need to be delegated to me.

And forgive me for my continuous comparisons to Auckland; I was (still am,
actually, although will cease to be soon) an 'Administrator' there - but
ultimately all that translates to is 'keep the website and mailing list
running, and otherwise keep the LUG ticking over in conjunction with
theother admins'. As much as it is almost a 'troika', its not like
theres really a _lot_ of decisions that need to be made...

... I feel some people are complicating things here where they dont need
to be.

- You need a volunteer to keep the mailing list running, and moderate it.
(enforce AUP).

- You need a volunteer to run the meetings; Coordinate venues, guest
speakers, and welcome people at the beginning of the meeting.

- Any other specific 'things that need to happen' people can step up for
as required.

- in the end theres plenty of people involved with WellyLug who are
obviously interested in 'how things work' (read: wellylug_org or whatever
its called) - and I don't see that theres many things theyd have to
'decide' that are likely to be substantially controversial, eh? Meetings,
Mailing list... ?

... Mark.
(Been on the mailing list for a while now. Been in Wellington for
fractionally more than a Month. And have conflicting appointments on most
meeting nights. Doesn't mean I don't care....)
