Personally, I don't favour incorporation - I think if we can't get by on
the curiosity, passion and community spirit that already define us as a
group of Linux users, we should just not bother.

As for credibility in Microsofts eyes etc... pfft.. This isn't some
dot-com fairytale we're living here - next we'll have suggestions of a
dress code.

The biggest issue I see with WellyLUG is the lack of organised events
like presentations and speakers etc. - I also agree we could do a much
better job of being newbie-friendly. Something as simple as putting a
couple of signs up saying 'Linux installed here' or 'See <insert name
here> if you have a Linux problem' However, I don't think the way to
be effective in these roles is to spend a lot of of time and effort on
corporate structures. Honestly, we dont *do* anything that warrants it
- you don't need limited liability and a board of directors to sit
around and talk nerdy stuff to your mates.

If the day comes when we are doing something that might benefit from a
corporate structure, lets tackle the issue then.

I mean, when the donations are running into the hundreds of thousands,
people are begging WellyLUG to endorse their products and the
organisational workload get too much for a small group of passionate and
motivated people, sure, lets bring some formal structure to bear, but
pre-emptively overengineering a solution to a total non-problem is just
not a good idea in my view.

Anyway thats my 2c.

-Pete
