In the 2.6 kernels, drivers seem to be .ko files. I still see EATA
drivers there. SME7 reports that it uses a 2.6.9 kernel on its
website.
In general, copying over modules from one distro to another is not
going to be a successful strategy anyway, since kernel versions
probably need to match pretty exactly.
The (long) approach I would try is: install SME7 on some system
without the requirement for EATA drivers; compile a custom kernel on
that machine with the same .config as the default, but with EATA
drivers added; copy the resulting module and/or kernel files across to
your target machine.
