I wouldn't go as far as to call myself a Plone and/or Zope
expert, but Zope (and hence plone) has plugins for pretty
much any SQL server you can think off.  If the amount of 
data is reasonable I wouldn't suggest using Zopes built-in
SQL-like features, though, and make sure you get Postgres
or something similar.  The big issue may be that the ready-
to-use structures that Zope/Plone provide don't match the
representation of your data ...
