Hi there
For those who are either recycling or love a bit a challenge, I have been
using Damn Small Linux for a bit now.

You can find the distro at http://damsmalllinux.org

Pc is a laptop Toshiba 460CDT, 165 Mhz, 80~ish of RAM and 2 Gb of HD.
After a bit of troubles to get it installed, the little thing is running the
all lot, a messenger stuff, firefox, sylpheed as an email client, and is
ready for PRISM2, Wlan, cups etc ....

Kernel is still 2.4.20 but I hope they will make a move to a newer one
sometimes.

I got my eth via PCMCIA 16 bit working on my LAN here and my USB key is plug
and play not for wireless stuff though...

And if you think it would be difficult to get proper soft you can use synaptic
on it, and all softs are a click away. Just great.

However and that is the reason why I had so much troubles to get it to work at
the beginning, it does not Mknod my cdrom drive...

/dev/cdrom does not exist (!), so mknod b major minor etc ....

Now the question is : what values to use for major and minor ??? cant find
anything explicit e.g. mknod for dummies, not man mknod !!

Thansk a lot
Edouard
