I hesitate to call myself a "toshiba specialist" but of all the toshi
laptops I have dismantled, I've never seen a SCSI device in them. 
F'rinstance looking at a CD-ROM out of a tecra (celery 400) right now and
the drive is a Teac CD224E. Windows XP (sorry) on that machine says the
driver used is cdrom.sys, just like the driver in my W2K (sorry) desktop,
where the hardware is definitely IDE.
