Yeah, I thought about that USB Vid card, but that thing requires USB2
and Windows to be effective. I actually ordered one of those for a
mac user only to find out that the mac didn't like it at all (and we
were supposed to get the mac version, which is *vapor!*) Granted, I
could be wrong and it may work on linux, but the USB2 is the kicker
here.

Only as long as the USB devices you want to use are supported in the
kernel on the machine. The more I thought about it, the more I could
see it being a small-load web/file/db server if you shove a USB memory
card on it. Although at USB1.1, it would be fairly impractical for
anything that needs moderately-fast responses.
Probably the cooles application I could see it used for would be a
wireless bridge or AP. Just plug a good linux-compatible usb wireless
NIC in and you're pretty good to go. Yeah, that's something I'd play
with. :-)
