hi all,

having been part of wellylug for almost 3 years, there are some
interesting things I have noticed:

1) There are always idiots ready to argue over stupid, unrealated
things.

2) Some people think they are always right.

3) Someone will start an argument about top VS bottom posting at least
every year.

These 3 things SUCK.


I am sick and tried of other so-called "elitists" arguing over how to
post email. THIS IS A MAILING LIST ABOUT LINUX!!! We should be talking
about Linux, not how one email's style is better than another email's
style.


I want this pointless thread to DIE NOW, and if anyone has anything to
say/moan/complain about posting email, they are welcome to email me...

I've send some friendly emails off to some of the people involved in
this latest argument, which was simply pathetic & bordering on mean.

Speaking about sending people emails, if you have a problem with a
certain person's email on the list, please tell me
jethro.carr at jethrocarr.com, and I can send them a friendly did-you-know
email. This will be useful if you can't trust yourself to write a nice
one, and the person won't receive 20 emails about the same topic. :-)


However, this thread seems to be one of many lately.

Lately (the last month or so), there has been a large increase in the
number of insulting posts. Maybe it's something in the water, but I
think that some people have been wiped into a frenzy of abusing each
other. I've even been tempted to flame some particularly rude and
abusive people, and in some cases, I've had to point out rudeness off
list with some people. I shouldn't have to worry about this.


Here's a calming solution - don't post ANYTHING not 100% Linux related
for the next 48 hours, and don't reply to any of these current threads,
and certainly don't reply to anything that requires your opinion. This
will cleanse your mind, and give you time to calm down.

And in future - if you don't like the way someone posts an email - you
don't have to read it! :-0

A lot of these people who post in a different way to you will usually
slowly change their ways to suit the general opinion of the list. They
"evolve" as they gain experience to mailing lists.

Simple solution.
