[wellylug] Locking up on boot "Loading manual drivers"

Hi peoples,
I have a wee issue with the PC locking up when it boots Ubuntu 6.06 beta
(same issue with 5.10).
It seems to stop and sit while 'Loading manual drivers'. Hitting the
reset button and getting the machine to reboot and it starts up all OK.
The '/etc/init.d/modules-init-tools' script is the one that seems to
load the manual drivers, it greps '/etc/modules' to find which ones it
needs to load.
$ cat /etc/modules
lp
mousedev
psmouse
sbp2
sr_mod
nvidia
Now because this has happened with both versions of Ubuntu I've used but
not under Win2k, I could make the assumption that it is a software
issue. BUT, because it is fine after a reset, that would point to a
hardware issue of some sort (I think). Can anyone help me expand on the
issue a wee bit?
Yes I suppose I could comment out each line one at a time, shut the PC
down, wait a bit, fire it up and then see what happens ... but I'm
hoping to shortcut it.
Cheers,
Ian
