A colleague has been having a lovely time trying to get various D-Link
wifi cards including that one working with Mepis in the past couple of
weeks. Different card revisions seem to have different chipsets;
specifically some are Atheros and some are Ralink. Atheros chipsets use
the madwifi driver, which is provided 'out of the box' in Mepis and so
solved my colleague's problem. And as you'll have seen there's another
thread here presently discussing Ralink cards, so you can probably get
some help there if it's relevant.
If you put the card in the laptop, and post the output of the lspci
command here, someone is likely to be able to provide some help.
