No, it really isn't.

The base KUbuntu system is specifically designed to provide a fully
functional environment with nothing further added to it.  This includes
common tasks such as file management, web browsing and office documents.


Now, perhaps your needs might not match the basic environment that
Ubuntu deliver on the CD -- which wouldn't be a surprise, really.  Most
people posting here probably have different needs to that. ;)

SuSE and most other distributions do, or at least can, ship more than
Ubuntu choose to -- at least on CD.  The Ubuntu DVD is rather more
full and requires less network access.

What most people consider the best point of Debian is not that any given
version is better than any other distribution.  A fresh install of
whatever two distributions you choose is likely to be fine.

What it /is/ better at is upgrades.   Upgrading Debian systems from the
libc5 era to the current release is not only possible but relatively
common.  Plenty of people have done that.

>From experience, however, the upgrade process for other distributions is
rather more ... exciting, and I wouldn't trust an upgraded system for
long at all.
