[wellylug] InstallFest Aftermath.

I'd like to add my tuppence worth to the recent post-install
assessments.

I enjoyed it and .. although I had not done one
for a few years found the Ubuntu install process very
simple. No more hasty calculations on an envelope how much swap memory
to include - just resizing with gparted (on the Ubuntu CD)
and automatic install. Had it not been for the slow machine
it would have been painless.

Jethro's total might have to be adjusted upwards - I think I lost
the disclaimer. Having since played with Xubuntu, if I can't save my
WinDoze drive I might install it on hda1.

Afterwards, I felt frustrated there were no further installs. I think
Linux has currently gained a level of acceptance in NZ not found
elsewhere. Things are changing.

Other LUGs are starting to organise public events around Software
Freedom Day. We could do something like this more often.

Cheers,

Adam Bogacki,

.. via the Gentoo 2006.1 Live CD. Hmm .. that's nice too.
