Something I've seriously considered, when I get enough cash to buy a new 
laptop, is...

Remove the Gates-infected hard disk and put in a safe place.

Put a new blank hard disk into the laptop.

Install a good operating system (e.g. some distro of LINUX).

Much later, put the original MS hard disk back in the laptop, just 
before you sell it off to someone, when you yourself are moving up to a 
newer laptop.  They'll be pleased with a pristine copy of Windoze, all 
configured etc.
