I have never done any type of video work on Linux before, however I now 
have a need therefore I would appreciate some guidance to get me started.

I have a finalised mini-DVD from a Sony handycam that I shot (NB: I 
borrowed the handycam and no longer have access to it). The files are in 
.vob format.

I want to be able to edit the video (trim and merge the chapters and add 
a title to the beginning) and then be able to write it out to a DVD-R so 
that it can be viewed in any DVD player.

Please let me know what piece(s) of software / steps I need to follow to 
get this done.
