If they did become extinct, it is likely no new computer languages would 
be developed. People would be stuck with what they have now. When the 
industry required something new - tough (nobody has skills like that 
anymore). Remember Chippendale furniture, renaissance art, hand written 
manuscripts, parchment making, Bugatti engineers, the builders of the 
Titanic?
