Have you tried the safari on-line library? http://safari.oreilly.com/
I've been using it for a couple of years, and have found it excellent. thousands of books,
and you can look at up to 10 at a time, plus get hard copy for bits if you want them.
I find it addresses the (very common, for me) situation where I want to get up to speed on
some subject, and I know that if I buy a book, it'll either be too advanced to be
immediately useful, or I I'll have outgrown it in a few weeks so the money is wasted.
