Linux PC good for router. Routeros better. http://www.mikrotik.com/. I know, it depends 
what you want, but IMO routeros is much easier to configure to do complicated things. And 
if size is an issue (and it always is, isn't it...) then you can get the routerboard too. 
Used in telcos, so expected to be reliable. Not particularly cheap, but still not too bad.
