As I understand it, most digital cameras will just appear in Ubuntu as a
usb drive, once connected and in data-sharing mode.
This is certainly my experience with an Olympus FE210 that I just
acquired. File transfer is just drag-and-drop using the Konqueror window
that opens automagically when it is connected, using Mepis. Camera comes
with a CD of windows/mac software, but I haven't had reason to get
curious enough to even boot windows and try it.
FWIW and off-topic, the camera seems fine also, from my shortish
experience of it. Lots of simple-to-use features, 7.1MP and 3X optical
zoom, for about $270 for the actual camera (memory card extra).
