What can I say.  Slack was (and is) simple in its philosophy
and its way of doing things.  The software installed is as
recent as possible while being proven to work well (e.g. not
xorg 7.x, no beryl, ... ).  My primary focus is easy maintenance,
performance and stability -  things I find lacking in the bleating
edge products with all the bells and whistles and their highly 
convoluted methods of making life easier.

I guess you're right:  I'm stuck on quality;  and I don't believe
in the dogma that new is inherently good (or newer is better).
