Hi all
Is there a really simple way to add a new printer with Ubuntu please.
(When I say easy it means it only involves clicking on things
and really simple instructions).
I have a crappy old Epson and yesterday someone gave me a nice Canon
LBP810. I thought I could just plug it in and it would work. Wrong.
I clicked on System, then Administration, then Printing.
It detected the new attached printer and called it Canon LBP-801
and on the Driver Tab it said install the driver, the recommended
one is cjet and the other choice is lbp8. However when I click on
the Install Driver button, which has a graphic of a CD on that button, it just opens
my home dir and says 'Select a PDD file' I have no idea what that is.
I looked in synaptic and could not find any drivers with those names.
Do I need to bring pc and printer to a meeting for someone to help
with this please? I need this new printer as soon as I can as I am doing
some work from home and my old one is not of acceptable business quality.
thanks a lot
best regards
Lyndsay
