Hi E,
What was the mdadm error? Sounds like you have an RAID mirror or array
set up.. Can you boot off a live CD and check the status of your array
doing something like:
mdadm --misc --detail /dev/md0
LVM shouldnt be a problem, I use it on top of raid all the time..
