Absolutely, I have a friend who runs this, and it is very impressive, 
especially since they can be modded without soldering, and are cheap as 
chips on trademe.

I do need output capable of at least 1080i though (pref. HDMI- I know 
avis will still look rubbish, but with deinterlacing, DVDs can look 
quite nice), and wireless (and preferable cheap).  Hadn't thought of 
AppleTV but will definitely look into it...
