[wellylug] Debian Etch 4.0r1 DVDs

Hi,

I've decided on a clean install of Debian Etch, as updated in mid
August. Leaving Fedora. No time to explain why.

Anyone know if Etch still supports ppp dial-up external modems via the
serial port? (Guess it doesn't have ModemLights, bummer.)

LINUX CD Mall in Auckland has a 3-DVD set for ~$55

Anyone know if these 3 DVDs include the stable/main and stable/non-free
and stable/contrib sets of files, as per the Debian FTP site?

Am I right in assuming that (e.g.) the stable/main DVD/directory would
have IceWeasel and OpenOffice, but that stable/non-free would have
Firefox itself? Where would the Flash/Gnash, Java, PDF, FTP, etc.
plug-ins for Firefox/IceWeasel be sitting, if at all?

Would any of these three DVDs or FTP directories have multimedia stuff,
like audio CD and video DVD rippers, video/audio capture and editing
apps, and CD/DVD burners?

Anyone in the Hutt or Welly area already got a set of 4.0r1 DVDs to
share, or want a copy from me when/if I order them?

Thanks,

Carl
