If possible organise your Telstra connection now rather than leaving  
it till later.
Connection waiting times are pretty long (many weeks).
A friend of mine was waiting over three weeks for a cable connection  
from Telstra.

On the tech support front if you want quick telephone service from  
Telstra ring their 0508 number with your mobile phone.
It is a free call for you but they pay by the minute. Consequently  
I've found the time I spend on hold isn't nearly as bad.
On the downside once you get in touch with their tech support it is  
pretty awful until your problem gets escalated up two or three levels  
in the food chain (which can take many hours of calling).
