Thank you for the swift reply, but I'm no further ahead. Think really,
really new to Linux. OK, now where do I look? More background though, the
modem in the Dell box is a $30 Dick Smith jobbie which advertises Linux
support whilst the label on the Presario says it's a "56k IUT V90". Perhaps
I just need another DSL item, but how do I rule the current one out first.
