USR are reliable and I'd choose a USR serial modem. ADSL, I'd not touch 
a USR ADSL modem with a very long pole. Two USR ADSL modems would not 
connect from here and several other brands of ADSL modems had no 
problems. (Admittedly a small sample, but the odss against *two* duff 
modems of the same brand must be pretty small).
