As a side note about this....

A while back a new IDE system was added to the Linux kernel (think it
first appeared in 2.6.19) called libata, which is designed as a
successor to the previous IDE drives.

One of the changes, is that devices using these new drivers now have the
name of sdX instead of hdX.

So expect to see many more distributions naming IDE drives sdX in the
near future. :-)
