to being a member of several LUGs - the nature of this message is such
that we want to get wide dispersal...)

For anyone not familiar with the OpenMoko Neo FreeRunner, perhaps check
out the wiki before reading this email. It's essentially an open-software,
open-hardware smartphone running Linux by default.

We are considering becoming an official distributor of this phone. We
would sell only in NZ, fulfil orders from locally-held stock, and provide
knowledgeable local support.

There is a reasonably significant initial investment required to become
an OpenMoko distributor, and there is a lot of uncertainty around how
popular the device will be, given its limited audience.

Therefore, we would appreciate it if those who would purchase one or
more OpenMoko Neo FreeRunner devices, assuming they were priced a
reasonable amount below $600, would register their interest on the

Registration of interest on that page won't be considered any sort of
commitment to purchase a device.

The form does ask for your name and email address. We'd appreciate at
least a name (so that we can make an informed call as to whether the
submission is spam or not), and an email address will help us let you
know if/when we're bringing them in, but if you're the paranoid sort,
all the fields are optional :)
