smb requires user names and passwords to be the same for the usual
reasons unless it is public, and both the subnet and workgroup need to
match I think.
/testparm/ is the command for samba to show its settings ( test
parameters ?) and /smbstatus/ both in Linux begins to tell you what is
going on.
If those are sufficient, network services in Ubuntu should begin to show
firstly the workgroup, then the Pcs, and finally the shared folders.
