Just to be 100% Clear,

My response was not meant to be offensive, merely suggest some potentially
more appropriate (and possibly more helpful) forums oriented around this
very issue.

Jethro did ask some pretty relevant questions, though, and his information
on the state of Paradise/TelstraClear may well be of value to you.

Again apologies, but as serious followups, we do need to know what ISP 
you're with and what type of Broadband you use. If you havn't already, you 
need to hassle your ISP about your degraded user experience.  If they've 
offered you a reason which is unsatisfactory, providing that info to 
others (us, or wherever else you pose the question) would also be helpful.

Good luck Joanne, I know how frustrating poor Broadband service can be. 
(There's a reason I no longer use Xtra.. heh...)
