better -- they seem to have actually been through planning out how
removable devices work properly within the kernel and deal with
registration/deregistration of drives.

Any particular reason you like to wait 3 seconds before looking again?
I tend to just do "tail -f ..." and let it scroll up as new things happen.
Sure it burns a little more CPU and disk I/O, but on a single user
machine the amount really isn't noticable.
