The colour is irrelevant - that's not a marketting issue, either are
available in either colour as far as im aware.
My wife has a 900 series in white; it came with winxp and 12 gigs SSD. For
the same dollars the Linux version comes with 20Gigs. So they cost the
same.
At the 700 series level I believe there was a cost difference which
essentially represents the windows license cost. That much is a given.
Not sure what perspective changes the above offers, but if theyre becoming
scarce, that could be an issue.
search for 'XC5818' on www.dse.co.nz - their availability figures indicate
less than 3 in stock if the store name is in italics, however, their
online store has stock and there's no indication that theyre quitting the
product. DSE Head Office are usually pretty happy to deal with product
enquiries so you could always email them if you have concerns.
