[wellylug] Ironic: none of the CD's from the installfest worked for me

I decided to try out the OpenSolaris disk and Fedora 9 'Live CD' just
the other day.
OpenSolaris: Seems pretty cool it automatically detects a 32 bit or 64
bit CPU, however it doesn't complete a boot on my machine. Halfway
through the boot, it stops and drops me into 'maintenance mode', asking
for a root password. Off course I don't have a clue what the root
password is, nor do I have enough knowledge of OpenSolaris, so I just
left it. It does however boot fine on an older Athlon XP machine. Maybe
my hardware is "too new", but I hardly see my hardware new anymore these
days, NForce 570 motherboard, GeForce 7950GT vid card.
Fedora 9 'Live CD': Well the CD cover says 64 bit Live CD, and so does
the print on the CD itself, it boots fine, but it doesn't contain a Live
CD at all, it only contains an anaconda installer that is 32 bit. Not
sure what happened with these disks :) factory stuff-up maybe? It's not
a Live CD and it's not 64 bit.
Doesn't really matter anyway, I only really wanted to try them for now,
as I currently do not have the disk space yet. Just pointed these things
out.
