new computers don't "come with" windows; the cost of the license is 
included in the purchase price.

2nd hand computers (unless they're from an "authorized" reseller) don't 
"come with" windows, in any legal sense, because the software is only 
licensed to the original purchaser and that license can't be transferred.

in either case, it furthers my rationale for just avoiding M$ products 
altogether. they want to "bundle" the software (and its cost) to new 
hardware, but when the hardware is sold second hand, they want to violate 
the first-sale doctrine and unbundle the software. screw 'em.
