I've had them working properly in Ubuntu 8.10 - they were auto
detected and the only setting I needed to change was the APN (I used
the same APN that Jasper mentioned).

I'm not sure if Kubuntu does anything differently though. Someone else
in the office dualboots Kubuntu (8.10 I think), and he's currently out
of town with the offices Vodem - I'll email him to see if it works in
Kubuntu.
