Another good example is VPN, and full IDS / Firewall features such as
blocking an IP address if they repeatidly do things against your box that
you dont like, or door knocking where you connect to one port, and all of a
sudden another port opens up (connect to port 1234, then you can ssh to port
22 etc), VoIP as Jethro rightly said.
If I could have the direct public internet IP available against a full
service router rather than a COTS DSL cheapie router that's doing NAT I know
what I would choose.
I think the end of the day is use a non Telepermited DSL router at your own
risk, or just buy one in NZ that is Telepermitted.

Dynalink ADSL Internal PCI Modem$115+gst... why wouldn't you.
The Turbocomm ones seem to have gone bust... so I wouldn't go for them.
