[wellylug] wlan hair pulling

Hi all
I am just about to install windows on my laptop .....
I'd rather not...

I am trying to connect to a new network following the usual procedure.
WEP key, accesspoint, DHCP etc... all fine then I try to connect : nothing just a disconnection warning.

Here is a dmesg outpu
wlan0: Initial auth_alg=1
wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:1d:6a:d5:XX:XX
wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:1d:6a:d5:XX:XX
wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:1d:6a:d5:XX:XX
wlan0: authentication with AP 00:1d:6a:d5:XX:XX timed out

Any ideas where to look from there  ?
OS is Suse 11, it usually works like a charm
