Well, to go back to basics ..

 ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/bin/AbiWord-2.6.6
 --enable-libabiword --enable-binreloc

.. goes well, but make gave me the following msgs at the end ..

 make[5]: *** [ap_UnixApp.o] Error 1
 make[5]: Leaving directory
 `/home/adam/Applications/Abiword-2.6.6/abiword-2.6.6/src/wp/ap/unix'
 make[4]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
 make[4]: Leaving directory
 `/home/adam/Applications/Abiword-2.6.6/abiword-2.6.6/src/wp/ap/unix'
 make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
 make[3]: Leaving directory
 `/home/adam/Applications/Abiword-2.6.6/abiword-2.6.6/src/wp/ap'
 make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
 make[2]: Leaving directory
 `/home/adam/Applications/Abiword-2.6.6/abiword-2.6.6/src/wp'
 make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
 make[1]: Leaving directory
 `/home/adam/Applications/Abiword-2.6.6/abiword-2.6.6/src'

"[all-recursive] Error 1" does not mean much to me.

 I checked that

 /desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility=true

 is correct in gconf,

 but I get

 adam at Tohunga:~$ /usr/lib/at-spi/at-spi-registryd
Xlib: extension "XEVIE" missing on display ":0.0".
 ^C
 adam at Tohunga:~$ su root
 Password:
 Tohunga:/home/adam# /usr/lib/at-spi/at-spi-registryd
Xlib: extension "XEVIE" missing on display ":0.0".

I do not know what extension "XEVIE" is.

Failing to find a solution means I will be sticking with
abiword 2.4.6 and 2.5* ..

Any ideas, folks ?
