I find myself wondering if grub can't find a file
because the filesystems were moved to bigger
partitions.
If you haven't done so already, you might want to
try creating new file systems that fill your new,
bigger partitions, install onto them, and then
re-configure grub.

Grub should be re-configured to boot off of the
new partition, /dev/hda3. I seem to recall that
grub uses an odd numbering scheme for devices.
Grub also has an interactive mode that might
reveal more diagnostic info.
