Cliff, you are - of course - correct. I realised my error just after
sending the email. I have reproduced it (properly, I hope) below.

(1) Configure works ..

Configured to build on a Unix/Linux platform.
Configured with printing capabilities.
Configured with XFT support.
 
  XML Parser:             libxml2 in -lxml2

Can anyone cast light on the error and whether it can be fixed ?

Also, I get

.. What is "XEVIE" ?
