64bit installs, one upgrade, one fresh install, no sound on either.  
Finding an easy solution to one (linking a couple of files) had me 
surprised (I shouldn't have been) that it wasn't the solution on the 
other, which ended up requiring the installation of some pulseaudio 
package(s).  Both situations were solved by some quick googling, and I'm 
not too concerned with understanding what/why they worked or didn't in 
the first place, only that there is now sound, so apologies to anyone 
else who may have a similar situation.  Google knows lots and lots about 
this topic, I've often not had luck solving past issues with flash sound 
and it has resulted in decisions to install 32bit more than once. 

Progress is certainly being made on various fronts, great to have seen 
since KK release that with firefox now at v3.5, first visits a page with 
flash, it does actually manage to find and install the right plugin.

TVNZ news and On Demand wouldn't display video, have discovered this 
morning that it is the Adblock Plus plugin that was getting in the way 
due to the ad they serve up at the beginning of each video (so is not 
flash-related).  Now for the first time, I have everything 
multimedia-related functioning - YAY!
