I'm with Mark here. Also, if a URL was to be obtained or considered, the
name should conceivably contain geek (given that we have .geek.nz
domains, but not .nerd.nz) :)

But geek/nerd + cycle may lead to some confusion as to the target
demographic. Few geeks and nerds I know are into cycling.

Freecycle use their name because it sounds like recycle, but
geek/nerd-cycle is a step removed from that pun. And if you choose to
stick to it anyway, I recommend investigating the trademark issues on
the name because Freecycle is part of a global network but they have a
TM on their logo:
