Mmmmm. Using a gendered term like that makes me feel less than happy, even if
the intention is to be inclusive: it comes across as excluding women, or
making their contributions invisible, by assigning everyone the role of "man".
Given there are a whole bunch of gender-neutral terms that can replace it,
I would be a happier if we, as a community, made the tiny effort to be that
bit more inclusive.
Plus, women are an unfortunately rare part of the FOSS community as it is.
Even if this only helps a tiny bit to make them feel more welcome it seems
worthwhile to me.
Anyway, I don't want to make a big song and dance about this; I assume that
Lucas probably meant to include women, and it isn't aimed at anything
personal.
Regards,
Daniel
